Day 1

Soccia to Vaccaghja Bergerie

Drive to Soccia, high in the mountains of the Deux Sorru, in the west of Corsica. From the valley of Soru, you discover a really authentic Corsica. The area is brimming with picturesque villages of stone houses backed by high granite mountains and beautiful hidden lakes. This land was a land of bandits who hid in the maquis, of honour vendettas, and of transhumance trails that you take in the footsteps of the shepherds of yesteryear. You make your way out of the village of Soccia, at the foot of St Eliseo mountain. After a short time you pass the legendary lake at Creno, it is covered with lily pads, its pozzine and some rare specimens of Drosera (a Carnivorous plant) make it a unique place in Corsica. Creno is the only mountain lake in the heart of a forest so it makes it quite special. After passing the lake, you then climb to the refuge at Manganu and head onto the plateau to find the Bergerie de Vaccaghja. Stay in tent accommodation at the Bergerie de Vaccaghja. Full Board.

Le lac de Nino

You will discover the source of the Tavignano as well as the beautiful lake Lac de Nino, which gives you an authentic feeling of freedom. The former glacial lake, a pearl of the Corsican mountains, is surrounded by impressive pozzines and wild horses living freely.

Day 3

Bergeries de Vaccaghja to Soccia

You hike back over the Campotile plateau through the Zoicu gorge to Soccia and pass the Bergeries de l'Izzola and de L'Arate before reaching the Parking de la Croix car park and the village. Here you say goodbye to your donkey. Holiday ends after the hike in Soccia.

Accommodation

Simple bivouacs at shepherds cabins under the stars, this is wild camping, limited facilities (no toilets at Vaccaghja).

Meal

Simple Continental breakfast (tea, coffee, milk, long life bread, butter, jam).
Picnic lunches for days 2 and 3.
Evening meals ( night 1 and 2) are often based on local and specialities and include a starter, main course and dessert.

Guiding

Self-guided tour. We provide you with a travel pack with IGN maps and a complete topographical guide produced by our team. During your hike, our 24-hour assistance service will also be able to answer any questions you may have and, if necessary, give you advice on how to make the most of your stay.

Number of participants

A minimum of 2 people is required to register. For safety reasons, we cannot accept single adults accompanied by one or more children (under 16) on this tour.

Luggage transfers

During this walk you will carry only a small day sack with a water bottle, camera, picnic, trailfood, sun and wet weather gear only if you choose the donkey hire. You will need to take your overnight gear for the 3 nights including sleeping bag.
