Just a quick note to say we thoroughly enjoyed our GR20 Sud walk. Many thanks for your help with the organisation....
The southern route of the GR20, stretching from Vizzavona to the village of Conca over a distance of 90 km, can be covered in 7 stages averaging 6 hours' walking.
Although it crosses mountains at altitude, this part of the GR20 is reputed to be less difficult than the Nordic section, thanks to its gentler terrain. The route from Vizzavona to Conca takes in the beautiful Vizzavona forest, Capanelle and its ski resort, the Col de Verde, the Cuscionu plateau, Monte Alcudina, the Asinao valley and the Aiguilles de Bavella. Many hikers prefer to start their journey from Bavella for shorter stages.
Specialising in the GR20, our agency organises several routes ranging from moderate to sporty. Whether in a group with a guide or on your own, depending on the version that suits you, you can make the authentic crossing from hut to hut, or choose a more comfortable version without carrying a rucksack. Shorter hotel packages are also available. Don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like to book a private departure or adapt an existing programme.

The GR20 Sud offers a blend of challenge and accessibility, with breathtaking scenery and unspoilt nature. Walkers cross large green meadows adorned with typical pozzines, offering less steep terrain and more modest gradients. It includes some Alpine sections, such as the line of the Statues ridge, providing a gradual preparation before tackling the GR20 North section
The Aiguilles du col de Bavella, a marvel of the southern part of the GR20 in Corsica, offer a splendid view between the Asinau and Paliri refuges.
The Cuscionu plateau, at an altitude of around 1,500 metres in the Monte Incudine massif, offers a hilly, wooded landscape, pine and oak forests, lush green meadows, streams and the chance to spot wild horses.
The Pozzines du Renosu, acidic peat meadows situated between 1700 and 2300 metres altitude, occupy depressions formed by ancient glacial lakes.
The GR20 South can be done from the beginning of May to the end of September, with the best period running from June to September. July and August are the quietest months. During these four summer months, the path is well cleared and generally free of snow.
The part of the GR20 South starts in Vizzavona. Vizzavona is easily reached by train from Ajaccio, Bastia or Calvi. If you do the GR20 Sud the other way round, you'll need to get to Conca to start the trek.
