New for 2023 we have put together a holiday that includes the must do walking in the South of Corsica, it offers a superb contrast from the magnificent mountains of the Alta Rocca to the beautiful coastal paths of the Extreme Sud. With 5 days of moderate and very varied walking you will discover the richness and history of this fascinating region. This is an area that has been inhabited since dawn of time, with traces of human existance long before modern times today - standing stones and bronze age settlements, "maquis" resistance WWII hideouts - you follow age old shepherds trails and customs paths taking in the wow walks of the area.

Day 1 - Zonza

This walking holiday starts in the village of Zonza, after settling into your hotel, explore the village or walk part of the Mare a Mare Sud to the bronze age site of Cucurruzzu. Established within a landscape of granite blocks, dominating the northern slope of the Levie plateau the walk is a pleasant stroll through time. You will see warrior menhirs, a casstedu or fort.

14km, 4h00, + 400 m, - 400 m.

Day 2 - Bavella & Tafonu di u Cumpuleddu

After a short transfer, from the Col de Bavella we offer a choice of hiking. The Tafonu di u Cumpuleddu walk heads up to a rock face pierced by a hole 8m in diameter, the Trou de la Bombe, and the Vélaco pass. This is a lovely hike under the pines with magnificent views of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio in perspective. In the other direction a walk takes you into the Bavella needles, a landscape of rare beauty and an unmissable walk in the southern mountains. A transfer at the end of the day takes you back to your comfortable hotel in Zonza.

Day 3 - Plateau de Coscione

Following a transfer to the plateau de Coscione, you shepherds routes across the magical plateau, a glacial plateau averaging 1500m altitude at the foot of south Corsica's highest peak, Mont Alcudine. You walk across a landscape of Pozzines, spongy grassy lawns, with runnels of spring water, grazed by ponies and wild pigs. This is a unique Corsican pastoral landscape dotted with shepherds huts and with superb rolling views to Bavella. Night in a comfortable village hotel in Quenza.

Day 4 - Quenza to Serra di Scopamena

From Quenza take a lofty trail across the edge of the Coscione plateau to the Arja Petrosa pass, the trail continues on climbing to the panoramic Cuircipula site with magnificent views of the surrounding area before dropping down through landscapes of moss covered taffoni rocks to bronze age settlements and caves used by the resistance in the second world war. The trail drops to the highest Alta Rocca village at Serra di Scopamene, before looping back past the deer enclosure to Quenza and your hotel again for tonight.

16km, 4h30, +750m /-750m

Day 5 - La Trinité de Bonifacio

After a transfer down from the Alta Rocca, you arrive in the Extreme Sud, and the magnificent town of Bonifacio. Bonifacio has some of the finest coastal walking in Corsica, along the clifftops and the coast of this southernmost tip of Corsica. For a longer walk, a wild coastal path takes you from La Trinité to Capo di Feno lighthouse, then cove to cove to the Paragan beach, before heading onto the cliffs near the Iles Fazzio with a delightful hiiden sandy beach and along towards la Madonette lighthouse. Stay in Bonifacio in a comfortable 3* hotel, on B&B.

15km, 4h30, +345m, -450m.

Day 6 -  Phare de Pertusato Bonifacio

This walk takes in the clifftops of Corsica's southernmost tip. The trail starts from the Haute ville and follows the cliffs towards the Pertusatu semaphore, from here head along a country trail to the beach at Cala Sciumaria vthen walk under the cliffs at Cala di Labra before climbing to the old lighthouse at Pertusatu. This is the last lighthouse on the trail, and drop down to Sant Antoine beach and sea cave which is a great spot for a picnic and a dip in the sea before retracing your steps to Bonifacio. A final highlight to your trip !

13km, 4h00, +475m, -475m.

Day 7 - Bonifacio

End of holiday in Bonifacio, extra nights, bus and transfers to Ajaccio available, please ask for details.

Price does not include

Reservation fee of €5pp, travel insurance, drinks, picnics, site visits and transfers to your hotel in Corte and from Piana, travel to Corsica.

Ajaccio Airport or Port, Figari Airport or Porto Vecchio port. If you arrive into Bastia, please ask for details. Public transport possible from Ajaccio.

  • Evening meals nights 3, 4 (based on local specialties, including a starter, a main course and a dessert).

Number of participants

Reservations for minimum of 2 participants. NB. For safety reasons we do not accept solo hiker reservations on Self-Guided treks.


Moderate. Involves longer walks, generally from 4-6 hours a day. The nature of the terrain presents little technical difficulty but some previous hill walking experience is useful. The ascents will vary from 400m to 800m altitude gain per day. See our level ratings.


Self-Guided Walking. We provide you with a Travel Dossier complete with A4 copies of the IGN maps and a walking guide created by our team. During your hike our 24-hour assistance service will also be able to answer all your questions and, if necessary, assist you with the smooth running of your stay.

Luggage transfers

During this walk you will carry only a small day sack with a water bottle, camera, picnic, trailfood, sun and wet weather gear. Luggage is transported by vehicle, point to point.
