Day 1 – Soccia to Manganu refuge

Drive to Soccia, high in the mountains of the Deux Sorru, in the west of Corsica. From the valley of Soru, you discover a really authentic Corsica. You make your way out of the village of Soccia, at the foot of St Eliseo mountain. After a short time you pass the legendary lake at Creno, it is covered with lily pads, its pozzine and some rare specimens of Drosera (a Carnivorous plant) make it a unique place in Corsica. Creno is the only mountain lake in the heart of a forest so it makes it quite special. After passing the lake, you then climb to the refuge at Manganu where you stop for the night. Stay in tent accommodation at the Refuge. Full Board

On the treks the accommodation was basic but as we expected. Level of walks was perfect for us. Challenging but not too challenging. We knew we had options to make days easier if someone got blisters, and could add in things if we wanted. Very impressed. We were well advised, and felt that we were being well looked after. Both Hotels were well judged. We were warned of last minute changes (beyond your control) and were offered a sensible alternative. We will be happy to use you again, and to recommend you to friends. This was our first visit to Corsica and hopefully there will be many more!

Accommodation good but it would be helpful to mention in the description that there are no toilets at BERGERIE DE VACCAGHJA. While we didn't mind this, some guests might! Level was good but length of walks could have been longer as there was too much time in the afternoon at the campsite. Especially the day we walked to Lac de Nino was too short.
