This loop between mountain and sea will allow you to discover most of the natural and tourist sites of the extreme south. The trip will begin at the foot of the Aiguilles de Bavella in the Alta Rocca, an authentic mountain region then switch to the coast in "the Corsican city of Corsica" Sartène. You will then discover the Lion of Roccapina, the coast of Bouches de Bonifacio before joining the great city of Bonifacio and the most beautiful beaches.

Day 1 – Porto-Vecchio

Beginning of stay in Porto-Vecchio. After your installation, you will discover the "city of salt", Porto Vecchio, and the beautiful streets around the historic citadel, then go to the rental shop to pick up your bike.

Day 2 - Porto-Vecchio to Zonza

The route leaves the wide plain to climb through the cork oaks and maritime pines to the village of Ospedale, offering magnificent views of the gulfs of Porto-Vecchio and Sardinia. From here you enter the forest of Ospedale crossing a lake which on this easy climb to the village of Zonza. From here head up to the col de Bavella to discover the Aiguilles, before a freeride down to your hotel for tonight, in the lively village of Zonza.

Day 3 - Zonza to Sartène

The road crosses the granite the small villages of Levie, Carbini at the foot of the Cagna massif, then plunges into the immense valley of Rizzanese offering beautiful views of the Gulf of Valinco before reaching the city of Sartène, a menacing town an known as the most Corsican of Corsican. Stay in a comfortable hotel for tonight in Sartene.

Day 4 - Sartène to Bonifacio

The small road winds through high mountains before turning into the Ortolo Valley, the straight road stretches to reach the site of Roccapina and its "Lion", which offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the island with the Bouches de Bonifacio.

55km, +700m, -1000m.

Day 5 - Bonifacio to Porto-Vecchio

The great city of Bonifacio is situated on high chalk cliffs and overlooks the sea. The coastal road offers the most beautiful views, enchanting places, some of the most beautiful beaches, before joining the city of salt.

51km, +450m, -450m.

Day 6 - Porto-Vecchio

Half board accommodation, (except day 1), internal transfers, the moving on of baggage between hotels, the dossier containing your maps, route notes and all necessary details needed for your holiday.

Reservation fee of €5pp, travel insurance, drinks, picnics, site visits, travel to Corsica. Bike rental available at a supplement.

Figari Airport or Porto Vecchio port. If you arrive into Bastia or Ajaccio, please ask for details of transport connections. Air tickets and boat reservations available, please ask for a quotation.

Number of participants

Reservations for minimum of 2 participants. NB. For safety reasons we do not accept solo cycle reservations on Self-Guided trips.

Level

Moderate. Involves longer uphill stretches, generally from 4-6 hours a day. The nature of the terrain presents little technical difficulty but some previous hill cycling experience is useful. The ascents will vary from 400m to 800m altitude gain per day. See our level ratings.

The cycling is on roads, the landscape is varied. You need to be used to cycling all day and take regular exercise to enjoy this holiday. Endurance road cycling with strenuous sections.

Guiding

Self-Guided Biking. We provide you with a Travel Dossier complete with IGN map and Topoguide created by our team. During your bike tour our 24-hour assistance service will also be able to answer all your questions and, if necessary, bring you useful tips for the smooth running of your stay.

Luggage transfers

You need to carry a small day sack only with a water bottle, camera, picnic and wind jacket. The main luggage will be transported by vehicle between the different accommodations.
